Can a poet and hip-hop artist learn to see eye to eye? Mark Grist and MC Mixy have spent the last year trying to find out. Now with there first album colab with beats by Big G! To buy and download here!
‘Dynamite! Both your flows are impeccable!’ Steve Merchant
‘Dead Poets’ will take you on a journey from the classroom to the club in just under an hour. Packed with witty wordplay, laugh out loud humour, and overflowing with creative energy, Mark and Mixy will make you see poetry and hip-hop in a completely different light.
Find out how Mark, an English teacher from Peterborough, struggles as he attempts to compete on the hip hop battle circuit and see MC Mixy’s attempts to be accepted by Peterborough’s poetry community.
The Dead Poets journey ends with Mark competing in a range of hip hop battles, winning several shock victories! Mixy also manages to gain the title ‘Poet Laureate of Peterborough’.
“Grist and Mixy prove that poetry is far from dead, but alive and kicking and pumping with rhymes in our classrooms and on our I-pods before the register has been called. Grist and Mixy have devised a refreshingly imaginative and unique poetry show, so sit back and let these formidable rhyme-smiths get you drunk on their words.” Rhian Edwards
Since forming in 2008, Mark and Mixy have been challenging the preconceptions of poetry and hip hop across the country. As ‘Dead Poets,’ they have performed in venues ranging from nightclubs to secondary schools; from festivals to formal dinners. They appeared on Radio 6 Live with Steve Merchant and have recently been on a National tour with Phrased and Confused.
Its been nearly 8 weeks since I have had internet! “see the light” fibre broadband… jokers! Anyway, the Terror tees are nearly sold out – only limited SMALL left… now only £5 including P+P.
Our very own Mixy with his accomplice Mark Grist are on tour at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh for the past week or 2 and are smashing it!! Local coverage here Evening Telegraph article, also check Edinburgh Festival article. Mixy also took place in his 2nd “Don’t Flop” battle in Scotland and won again but gained few haters. When he drops his next post, I’m sure he will explain lol.
